Austinite Jason Herd began playing guitar and writing songs as a freshman in high school. He recorded his first album, One Day's Work, in 2001 with college friend and fellow musician Blair Mitchell. As the album title suggests, One Day's Work was recorded in one 13 hour long session at Arlyn Recording Studio in Austin. One Day's Work is a selection of Herd's early songwriting, which draws significant musical and lyrical inspiration from the Texas Folk/Country and Americana genres. Since the release of his first album, Herd's songwriting has continued to progress, and he has incorporated rock and blues styles into his folk and country roots. His newest album is a significant stylistic departure from his earlier work and is the result of a year-long recording effort at Alta Vista Recording in Austin, Texas.
